The Locanda Interpreter's
wine and culinary concept is a synergy of styles,
seeking to offer its diners something new, especially
because of the neighbourhood it's located in, a neighbourhood
with a long history, yet today in the caught in the
midst of deep urban transformation. Legend has it
that the restaurant's premise was a favourite place
for Pier Paolo Pasolini to visit.
Today "Pigneto" is very close to the city
centre and definitely no longer one of the typical
neighbourhoods of Pasolini memory. And it is also
now considered the centre of Rome, due to the city's
massive extension. Locanda Interpreter's concept mixes
Italian food tradition with modern trends of inspiration
for new dishes and recipes, which I believe is the
real future of Italian food and what it represents.
To me, the concept of "made in Italy" is
basically food, especially because I have worked as
a Chef abroad for so many
years. This often happens to people like me in my
case of living and working abroad. You give even more
importance to Italian food culture than one normally
would. But this doesn't mean I can't keep my mind
open and look towards the future with one eye constantly
open to new ideas.
In my opinion, the future of food culture is still
based on the quality of the products we use which
is why much manipulation on behalf of a chef isn't
required in creating dishes if products are top quality.
Since our first day at Locanda Interpreter, we've
been giving our customers the best we can, with fresh
products, new ideas and mostly working with less expensive
products. This means we haven't been working with
foie gras, caviar or lobster for example, but with
generally speaking common ingredients, so that the
final cost we ask of our customers throughout this
restaurant's first year has always been extremely
reasonable in terms of value.
Success was reported immediately
and we are pleased to say it was our customers who
gave us the chance to continue with our original price
listing. Then in May and August 2006 we were discovered
and cited by important journalists such as Luca Zannini
and Francesca Alliata Bronnner who wrote about us
in the Corriere della Sera and Repubblica, two of
the most major national newspapers, giving us the
chance to broaden our customer network across town
and abroad, all due to the performance of our daily
work.

Locanda Interpreter
opened in Jannuary 2006, as the beginning of
a new chapter in this part of Rome after completely
renovating it, starting from a brand new restaurant
including our stunning open-view kitchen which
makes every night like a reality show for us,
and the beautiful outdoor garden open in the
summer which in Rome lasts from May all the
way to October. |
As you walk through, you
can enjoy the paintings and "Wall Art"
decorations by my friend the talented and passionate
Filippo
Luppi that I believe are some of the best
"wall art pieces" you can see in all
around Europe; and that togheter with Giorgio
Ceccotti interior design, create a unique style
for a restaurant atmosphere. |

Summing up, we can say that the
Locanda is a fine place to dine out and spend a very
pleasant evening with very good food served with style
in a typical Italian "family like" yet fashionably
colourful atmosphere.
I'd like to mention about the menu
that there's a children's menu and an important part
specializing in vegetarian food where we use tofu,
seaweed and our own specially-made Mediterranean style
wheatmeat. There is also top quality meat and fish
entrees in which the best of the markets is placed
on the plates. Then there are the pasta dishes where
my creativity is probably at its best. All of our
pasta is strictly fresh homemade every day as is the
bread, ice cream and desserts. Without mentioning
our eye-appealing starters offered as platters, both
providing lots of inspiration as well as qualified
rare products from the local countryside!
So we wait for your visit in this up and coming neighbourhood
of Rome, where I will do my best to provide you with
one of the best dinner experiences possible and help
you to get to know this ancient city and well as its
surroundings and if you wish with the help of expert
guides, friends of mine.
Adalberto Battaglia a.k.a. Adha Bataya.
